RTIS Stock Control Module - download .pdf brochure

Outline

The RTIS Stock Control Module is designed to facilitate the stock checking and valuation procedures to save time during stock checks and to improve accuracy. It can be adapted according to an individual companies particular requirements, and can be linked with most standard third party software packages such as accounting systems. In addition it can be fully integrated with other manufacturing modules supplied by RTIS. This can then provide the basis for achieving perpetual inventory and form a part of an MRP solution. A range of data capture options are available including simply entering information on the PC, batch process handheld units, radio frequency handheld units, and even forklift mounted units. A full range of barcode labeling and reading options are also available.

The key benefits of implementing the module include:

Flexibility to Configure to your Requirements

Stock Items - Many systems require all stock items to be predefined with a specific code so that it can be referenced and priced. The RTIS system provides for this, but in addition allows generic or template items to be defined. This allows items to be accurately identified by adding the final information at the time the item is logged as opposed to requiring it to be set up as a predefined part.

Location information - This can be as detailed or general as desired, from which depot to which rack or bin. Hardware options - RTIS have supplied systems with using a wide range of hardware to print and scan barcodes. We can recommend hardware to suit requirements, or use hardware specified by the client.

Valuing Rules - Most systems rely on a specific item code to reference a specific value. In addition to this, the RTIS system provides for generic pricing rules to be used to derive the values of items from their characteristics.

Raw Materials, WIP, Finished Product - It may be that one structure can accommodate all required areas of inventory, but if not each area can be developed according to it's own particular requirements.

Barcode Label Printing - The system can either produce barcode labels for the items, locations etc., or use any suitable existing labels to identify items. All common barcode formats are covered.

Report Writer - The standard module includes a total of 8 reports. This can be extended as required. In addition we can include a report writing facility in which end users can produce their own reports, and fully integrate them with the system.

The Stock control information is organised into 3 areas:

Inventory (This may be split between Raw Materials, WIP and finished goods). This is where the actual log of items is stored. Historic stock checks can be stored, and reloaded. ·

Stock item Definitions (This may be divided between Items with codes, and generic definitions). This area accommodates Raw Materials, WIP and finished product. In the basic solution to benefit from automatic valuation, all items must reference a price, however this is extendable to allow prices to be "worked out" for generic type item definitions. ·

Other information (Location definitions, Item Grouping Codes)

One key feature of the RTIS software is the interface used to manage lists of information. The component (known as the List Browser) is used to search through lists, ask spontaneous questions of the information, and manage the content of reports. It is also used to highlight entries that require attention through the use of colouring rows and cells.

Implementation Procedure

A typical implementation of the RTIS Stock Check Module would advance through the following steps:

  1. Initial Meeting to discuss requirements, and demonstrate the RTIS software
  2. Agree specification, scope, data platform and choice of any additional hardware
  3. RTIS produce initial prototype layouts for details forms, reports, and any software required for additional hardware
  4. RTIS produce functional single user system for testing and approval
  5. Installation on network and training
